Injection Moulding Machine for Breast Pump Parts

Breast pump parts such as flanges, connectors and bottle adaptors are made on horizontal injection moulding machines from food-contact PP, while silicone valves and diaphragms are separate LSR parts. Machine size depends on flange diameter, cone depth and cavity count. Fill balance matters most, because the thin funnel wall must fill evenly from gate to rim.

Selection for pump parts focuses on concentric filling of the flange cone, clean sealing faces where the valve seats, and a mould opening long enough to clear the cone. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for these PP parts and can recommend a configuration.

Machine Requirements for Breast Pump Part Moulding

Breast pump hard parts carry milk and hold the vacuum seal, so fit faces need close dimensional control. Machine selection should cover:

  • Food-contact PP with clean material handling
  • Even fill of thin conical flange walls from a central gate
  • Flash-free sealing faces where valves and diaphragms seat
  • Opening stroke enough to eject a deep flange cone
  • Clarified PP grades where milk flow must be visible
  • Tight fit on push-fit and threaded bottle connections

Recommended Machine for Breast Pump Parts

Connectors, valve seats and small adaptors suit the E Series (75-180 T) in multi-cavity moulds. Wider flanges with a deep cone, or pump body housings, may need the mould height and stroke of the C Series (140-320 T) or H Series (120-350 T). Silicone valves and diaphragms are LSR parts and sit outside these series.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

Common buyer questions on moulding breast pump flanges and connectors.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Breast Pump Parts?
Small connectors and valve seats usually run on E Series machines. Flanges with a wide funnel and pump housings move to the C or H Series, chosen by mould size and opening stroke.
  • Can the Silicone Valve and Diaphragm Be Made on the Same Machine?
No. Silicone valves, diaphragms and cushions are liquid silicone rubber parts with their own dosing and mould heating. A standard thermoplastic machine makes the PP flange, connector and housing they fit into.
  • How Is Warpage Controlled on a Breast Pump Flange?
A centre gate on the cone gives even flow to the rim, and balanced cooling on core and cavity keeps the funnel round. Uneven wall thickness or a side gate often leads to an oval rim.
  • Why Must the Valve Seating Face Be Free of Flash?
The duckbill or flap valve seals against this face to hold vacuum. Even fine flash from a worn parting line can cause a leak, so steady clamping and regular mould upkeep count here.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Breast Pump Part?
Yes. Share drawings or samples of each part, the PP grade, part weights, mould dimensions, cavity count and planned output, and Pratishna Engineers will advise on a machine.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Baby Feeding Parts Too?
Yes. A similar machine can mould feeding bottle bodies, feeding bottle caps, baby sippers and milk powder containers, subject to the mould for each part.
