Injection Moulding Machine for Tail Lamp Lenses
Tail lamp lenses are coloured or clear rear light covers moulded on horizontal injection moulding machines, mainly from PMMA with PC on some designs. Lens area, the depth of the lamp shape and cavity layout set the machine size. Even filling of the inner optic pattern matters most, so the light spreads without dark patches.
With a tail lamp lens, selection is about filling fine prism or pillow optics, holding colour shade and releasing a brittle acrylic part cleanly. Pratishna Engineers offers horizontal injection moulding machines for lens moulding and can propose a machine for your lens and tool.

Machine Requirements for Tail Lamp Lens Moulding
Tail lamp lenses must match a colour shade, pass light evenly and come out of the mould without cracks. Machine needs include:
- Drying of PMMA to prevent splay on the outer face
- Enough injection pressure to fill fine optic patterns
- Steady colour dosing for red and amber shades
- Gentle, even ejection with good draft on acrylic
- Mould temperature control for gloss and low stress
- Clamping force matched to lens area and cavity count
Recommended Machine for Tail Lamp Lenses
Two-wheeler tail lamp and indicator lenses are compact and often run on the E Series (75-180 T), sometimes in two-cavity tools. Car tail lamp lenses with a wider area generally need the H Series (120-350 T) or the C Series (140-320 T). Larger lenses beyond this range, and multi-colour lenses, are discussed on request.

FAQs / Buyer Questions
Questions rear lamp moulders raise when planning a new lens job.
Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Tail Lamp Lenses?
Machine size follows the lens. Indicator and two-wheeler tail lenses fit the E Series, and wider car lenses need the C or H Series. Cavity count and mould depth then decide where in the range a lens sits. Why Is PMMA Preferred for Tail Lamp Lenses?
PMMA has high clarity, holds colour well and resists weathering without a coating. It is more brittle than PC, so PC is used where the lens needs higher impact strength or more heat resistance near the bulb. How Is Colour Kept Consistent Across Batches?
Pre-coloured PMMA or a controlled masterbatch ratio, steady melt temperature and stable residence time keep the red or amber shade even. Overheating can shift the colour or leave burn marks near the gate.
Why Do Acrylic Lenses Crack During Ejection?
PMMA is stiff and brittle when it leaves the mould. Low draft, uneven ejector pin load or ejecting too early can crack it, so wide pins, enough draft and a balanced ejection stroke help. Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Tail Lamp Lens?
Yes. Share the lens drawing or sample, material and colour, part weight, mould dimensions, cavities and volume, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a machine.Does the Machine Suit Other Automotive Parts Too?
Yes. Similar horizontal machines can produce head lamp lenses, decorative bezels, control knobs and battery terminal covers, with the screw and mould setup matched to each part.
