Injection Moulding Machine for Relay Housings
Relay housings are produced on horizontal injection moulding machines in multi-cavity moulds, using glass-filled or flame-retardant PBT, PA66 or PA6. Tonnage is driven by the cavity count and the combined projected area, with shot weight staying small. Keeping the deep cover walls even matters most, because core shift makes one side thin.
Relay housing machine selection is about repeatable small shots across many cavities and steady drying of PBT or nylon. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for relay housing and base moulding and can recommend a configuration for your relay design and cavity plan.
Moulding Relay Housings?
Send your relay cover and base drawings, material and cavity plan, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a machine.
Machine Requirements for Relay Housing Moulding
Relay covers are small, deep boxes and bases carry terminal holes, so the process has to hold size in every cavity:
- Shot control for small parts in multi-cavity moulds
- Drying of PBT, PA66 and PA6 to stop splay
- Even wall thickness on deep covers without core shift
- Venting at the closed end to stop air traps
- Ejection of deep box shapes without stress whitening
- Wear-resistant screw for glass-filled relay grades
Recommended Machine for Relay Housings
Relay housings are light parts, and many cover and base moulds run on the E Series (75-180 T). Moulds with a high cavity count, a hot runner or covers and bases together in one tool can need the H Series (120-350 T) or the C Series (140-320 T) for clamping force and platen space.

FAQs / Buyer Questions
Common questions from relay and switchgear part moulders.
Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Relay Housings?
A small horizontal machine in the E Series handles many relay housing tools. Bigger series are chosen when the cavity count or a combined cover and base mould raises the clamping force needed. Why Do Relay Covers Come Out With One Thin Wall?
The long core forming the inside of the cover can be pushed sideways by melt pressure. Gating at the centre of the top, a well supported core and balanced filling keep the walls even.Should PBT and Nylon Be Dried Before Moulding?
Yes. PBT can lose strength through hydrolysis if moulded wet, and nylon shows splay and brittle parts. Dry to the resin supplier figures and keep the hopper covered or fed from the dryer.
Can Terminals Be Moulded Into the Relay Base?
Some bases are moulded around metal terminals placed in the mould as inserts. That needs precise insert location, careful sealing of the pins in the tool to avoid flash, and loading time in the cycle. Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Relay Housing?
Yes. Share drawings or samples of the cover and base, material grade, part weight, cavities, any inserts and target output, and Pratishna Engineers will suggest a suitable machine.Does the Machine Suit Other Small Automotive Housings Too?
Yes. Depending on the mould, the same machine can mould fuse boxes, sensor housings, automotive connectors and battery terminal covers.
