Injection Moulding Machine for Automotive Fasteners

Plastic automotive fasteners, such as push rivets, nuts, screws and screw grommets, are made on horizontal injection moulding machines from POM, PA66 or PA6. Cavity count, mould height for unscrewing or slide actions and shot weight decide machine size. Solid, void-free shanks and accurate threads matter most, because fasteners carry load.

A fastener mould often needs a hydraulic or motor-driven unscrewing core, so selection checks those machine circuits along with shot accuracy. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for fastener work and can match one to your thread form, cavities and output.

Machine Requirements for Fastener Moulding

Fasteners hold assemblies together under vibration and load, so the moulding process must deliver strength and thread accuracy. Look for:

  • Hydraulic or motor circuit for an unscrewing mould
  • Holding pressure control to avoid voids in thick shanks
  • Gate into the head so flow runs along the shank
  • Accurate thread form with low POM shrinkage variation
  • Drying of PA66 and PA6 before moulding
  • Mould height allowance for slide and unscrewing gear

Recommended Machine for Fasteners

Push rivets, small nuts and grommets are light parts that often run on the E Series (75-180 T) in multi-cavity moulds. Unscrewing tools are taller and heavier, and high-cavity versions may call for the C Series (140-320 T) or the H Series (120-350 T) for mould space as much as tonnage.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

Points that buyers of fastener moulding machines often want clarified.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Plastic Fasteners?
Fastener size, thread type and cavities decide it. Small push rivets fit compact machines, while threaded parts in unscrewing moulds need a machine with the right core-drive circuit and enough mould space.
  • How Are Threads Formed on a Plastic Fastener?
Threads are formed by rotating unscrewing cores, by collapsible cores or by split slides at the parting line. Unscrewing gives a clean full thread but makes the mould larger and needs a drive from the machine.
  • Why Do Thick Fastener Shanks Show Voids?
A thick shank keeps shrinking inside after the skin freezes. If the gate freezes early or holding pressure is too short, voids or sink form. A larger gate into the head and longer hold time help.
  • Is Glass-Filled Nylon Used for Fasteners?
Glass-filled PA66 is used where a fastener must carry more load or heat. It lowers elongation, so snap features need care, and the glass wears the screw and check ring faster.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Fastener?
Yes. Share the fastener drawing or sample, material, part weight, mould dimensions, thread or slide details, number of cavities and volume, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a machine.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Automotive Parts Too?
Yes. The same machines can mould clips, control knobs, battery terminal covers and small automotive connectors, with mould and screw matched to each part.
