Injection Moulding Machine for Automotive Clips
Automotive clips are small snap-in retainers for trims, panels and wiring, made on horizontal injection moulding machines in high-cavity moulds from POM, PA66 or PP. Cavity count, total projected area and a small shot weight set the machine size. Keeping the thin flexible legs fully filled and free of flash matters most for retention force.
For clips, machine selection looks at fine shot control at low shot weights, a stable clamp on a multi-cavity tool and fast ejection. Pratishna Engineers can supply a horizontal injection moulding machine for clip production and suggest a setup for your clip and cavity plan.

Machine Requirements for Clip Moulding
A clip has to flex, snap in and hold the panel for the life of the vehicle. Moulding it well depends on:
- Accurate small shots spread evenly across many cavities
- Cavity balance so every leg and wing fills
- Tight clamp to avoid flash on thin snap fins
- Uniform walls to control POM shrinkage
- Post-mould moisture conditioning for PA66 clip toughness
- Reliable ejection for clips with undercut barbs
Recommended Machine for Clips
Each clip weighs very little, so the E Series (75-180 T) often suits clip moulds, even with many cavities. A tool with a very high cavity count, a wide hot runner plate or a larger panel clip can push the clamping force and mould size into C Series (140-320 T) territory, or up to the H Series (120-350 T).

FAQs / Buyer Questions
Answers to what clip moulders and trim suppliers often ask.
Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Automotive Clips?
A small horizontal machine is common, because the clip itself is light and the mould carries many cavities. The E Series covers most clip tools, and very large multi-cavity moulds may need the C or H Series.Should Clips Be Made in POM or PA66?
POM gives low friction, stiffness and steady dimensions, which suits snap clips that must click in firmly. PA66 is tougher and handles more heat, which suits clips near the engine bay. PP is used for low-load retainers. Why Do Nylon Clips Break Straight Out of the Mould?
Dry-as-moulded PA66 is brittle until it absorbs some moisture. Many moulders condition nylon clips in water or humid storage after moulding so the legs regain toughness before fitting.
How Are Undercut Barbs on a Clip Released From the Mould?
Small barbs can strip off the core if the material and angle allow it. Deeper undercuts need slides or collapsing features in the mould, which adds to mould size and may affect the machine choice. Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Clip?
Yes. Share the clip drawing or sample, material, part weight, mould dimensions, number of cavities and runner type, along with output needs, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a machine.Does the Machine Suit Other Automotive Small Parts Too?
Yes. Similar machines can make fasteners, battery terminal covers, control knobs and automotive connectors, each with its own mould and screw setup.
