Injection Moulding Machine for Air Filter Housings
Air filter housings, the boxes and covers that hold the engine air filter, are made on horizontal injection moulding machines from PP or glass-filled PA6 and PA66. Box depth, mould height and the projected area of the flange set the machine size. Holding the sealing face flat is the main process concern, since any warpage lets unfiltered air bypass.
For an air filter housing, the machine choice weighs opening stroke and ejector stroke for a deep box, platen size and shot capacity. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for housings of this size and can recommend one for your tool.

Machine Requirements for Air Filter Housing Moulding
Air filter housings are deep, ribbed boxes with latches, ducts and a gasket seat. A suitable machine provides:
- Long opening stroke to clear a deep box core
- Ejector stroke and force to release ribbed walls
- Core pull circuit for the inlet and outlet ducts
- Even core cooling to keep the sealing flange flat
- Wear-resistant screw for glass-filled PA6 and PA66
- Shot capacity for a heavy box and cover
Recommended Machine for Air Filter Housings
Two-wheeler air filter boxes and smaller car covers often fit the C Series (140-320 T). Deeper car housings with large flanges and heavy shots move to the H Series (120-350 T), where mould space and opening stroke allow it. Bigger housings that need a larger machine are discussed on request.

FAQs / Buyer Questions
What engine component moulders usually ask about these housings.
Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Air Filter Housings?
Medium to large horizontal machines are used. Scooter and motorcycle air boxes sit at the lower end, while car housings with deep walls and wide flanges need more tonnage, daylight and shot weight. Is PP or Glass-Filled Nylon Used for Air Filter Housings?
PP, often talc-filled, suits housings away from engine heat and keeps cost down. Glass-filled PA6 or PA66 is chosen where the box sits close to the engine or needs higher stiffness at its mounting points. How Is Warpage Avoided on the Sealing Flange?
Even wall thickness, balanced core and cavity cooling, and correct holding pressure keep the flange flat. A deep box can pull inward as it cools, so the core needs good cooling channels and steady mould temperature.
What Mould Height and Opening Stroke Are Needed?
A deep air box needs enough opening stroke to clear the core and leave room to take the part out. Check the mould height and box depth against the machine before choosing a size. Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Air Filter Housing?
Yes. Share the housing drawing or sample, material, part weight, mould dimensions, core pulls and production plan, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a machine.Does the Machine Suit Other Automotive Housings Too?
Yes. Similar machines can produce battery containers, battery covers, fuse boxes and automotive junction boxes, with clamp and stroke matched to each mould.
