Injection Moulding Machine for Greenhouse Clips

Greenhouse clips, including film clips, pipe clips and plant support clips, are moulded on horizontal injection moulding machines using multi-cavity moulds and PP or PE. Being small parts, they are sized by cavity count, runner layout and total shot weight rather than part size. Hinge and snap strength matter most, since clips flex every time they are fitted.

For greenhouse clips, machine selection focuses on accurate small shots, balanced filling across many cavities and UV stabilised material. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for greenhouse clip production and can recommend a configuration for your clip range.

Machine Requirements for Greenhouse Clip Moulding

Greenhouse clips are cheap, small and made in large numbers, but they must snap on and hold through seasons in the sun:

  • Gate placed so melt flows across living hinges
  • Accurate small shot weight for multi-cavity moulds
  • Cold runner or hot runner balance for even cavity fill
  • Undercut release for snap-fit jaws without stress whitening
  • UV stabiliser and masterbatch dosing at the hopper
  • Short, repeatable cycles with quick part ejection

Recommended Machine for Greenhouse Clips

Clip moulds usually fit the E Series (75-180 T), where the shot is small and the mould compact. High-cavity moulds for pipe or hoop clips, or family moulds carrying several clip sizes, may need the larger platen and injection unit of a C Series (140-320 T) machine, with the H Series (120-350 T) as an option where mould height is greater.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

Questions polyhouse and plant support clip makers ask before buying a machine.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Greenhouse Clips?
The E Series covers the usual clip moulds. Larger pipe clips, higher cavity counts or family tools with several sizes may move to the C or H Series, depending on mould dimensions and shot weight.
  • How Is a Living Hinge Moulded on a Plant Clip?
PP is used, with the gate placed so the melt flows across the hinge in one direction. A weld line in the hinge cracks early. Flexing the clip soon after ejection also helps orient the hinge.
  • Do Greenhouse Clips Need a UV Stabiliser?
Yes. Clips sit in direct sun inside and outside the polyhouse, and unprotected PP or PE turns brittle. A UV stabilised masterbatch is added at the hopper in a controlled ratio.
  • Can Clips for Different Pipe Sizes Share One Mould?
Yes, with interchangeable cavity inserts or a family mould. Family moulds need runner balance so small and large clips fill together without flash on the smaller cavities.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Greenhouse Clip?
Yes. Share the clip drawings or samples, material, part weight, mould size, cavity count and daily output, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a suitable machine.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Small Agriculture Parts Too?
Yes. The same machine class can produce grommets, pipe saddles or clamp saddles, livestock ear tags and drip line end caps.
