Injection Moulding Machine for Litter Scoops and Tray Accessories

Litter scoops and tray accessories are made on small horizontal injection moulding machines, usually from PP or ABS, often in multi-cavity moulds. Size depends on blade length, cavity count and shot weight. Stiffness at the neck matters most: gate position and rib design decide whether the scoop flexes or snaps where the handle meets the blade.

Machine selection for scoops focuses on shot weight, runner balance across cavities and steady filling of the slotted blade. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for litter scoop production and can recommend a configuration for your scoop and accessory tools.

Machine Requirements for Litter Scoop Moulding

Scoops look simple, but the slots and the neck carry the function, so the machine and mould need:

  • Balanced filling of fine slots without short shots
  • Gate placed to keep weld lines off the neck
  • Ribbing and wall thickness that keep the blade stiff
  • Multi-cavity mould support with a small, repeatable shot
  • PP living hinges flexed straight after ejection
  • Clip and holder snaps sized for the chosen resin

Recommended Machine for Litter Scoops

Litter scoops are small parts, so the E Series (75-180 T) covers most scoop and holder moulds, including multi-cavity tools. Long sifting scoops, family moulds that combine scoop and holder, or higher cavity counts can move to the H Series (120-350 T) for more clamping force and shot capacity.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

Common questions from makers of scoops, holders and tray add-ons.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Litter Scoops?
An E Series machine handles most scoop moulds because the shot is small. The H Series is used when the mould carries many cavities, a long scoop, or a scoop and holder in one family tool.
  • Why Do Litter Scoops Snap at the Neck?
Usually a weld line or thin section at the neck, a gate in the wrong place, or brittle material. Moving the gate, adding a rib, and choosing PP copolymer or ABS over general purpose PS usually fixes it.
  • How Are Scoop Slots Moulded Cleanly?
The slots are formed by steel ribs in the mould, so the plastic flows around many small cores. Good venting, even slot spacing and enough injection speed fill the bars between slots without short shots or flash.
  • Does a Living Hinge on the Holder Need Special Handling?
A PP living hinge should be flexed a few times right after ejection, while still warm, to orient the polymer. Gate the part so the melt passes through the hinge in one direction.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Litter Scoop?
Yes. Share the scoop and holder drawings or samples, material, part weight, mould size, cavity count and monthly quantity. Pratishna Engineers will suggest the machine size and screw.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Pet Care Parts Too?
Yes. It can also mould collar buckles, cage clips, grooming combs and feeder dispensing wheels, depending on mould size and cavity count.
