Injection Moulding Machine for Collar Buckles, Sliders, D-rings and Leash Hardware

Collar buckles, sliders, D-rings and leash hardware are made on small horizontal injection moulding machines, mostly from POM or nylon, in high-cavity moulds. Machine size depends on cavity count, runner layout and shot weight. Prong strength matters most, because pet buckles take a higher load than bag buckles and the prong root must not crack.

Machine selection for collar hardware focuses on a small, repeatable shot across many cavities and steady shrinkage on mating parts. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for collar and leash hardware and can recommend a configuration.

Machine Requirements for Collar Buckle and Leash Hardware Moulding

Collar hardware is small and load-bearing, and buckle halves must click together after every batch, so selection covers:

  • Small shot with balanced runners across many cavities
  • POM shrinkage held steady so buckle halves mate
  • UV-stabilised grades for collars worn outdoors
  • Prong roots free of weld lines and voids
  • Dried PA6 and PA66 for D-rings and sliders
  • Controlled regrind levels to protect pull strength

Recommended Machine for Collar Buckles and Leash Hardware

Buckles, sliders and D-rings are small, so the E Series (75-180 T) suits most collar hardware moulds. Very high-cavity tools, hot runner moulds for large volumes, or wider leash handles and body-strap fittings can need an H Series (120-350 T) machine, which adds clamping force and platen space.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

Questions collar and leash brands ask their moulders.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Collar Buckles?
Most collar hardware runs on the E Series because each part is light. The H Series is chosen when the mould carries a very high cavity count or larger leash handle and strap parts.
  • How Are Pet Collar Buckles Tested?
Buckles go through a webbing pull test and a cycle test, opening and closing many times. Pet buckles see a higher load than bag buckles, and a change in resin or regrind ratio means repeating both tests.
  • Why Is POM Used for Buckle Prongs?
POM has good spring-back, fatigue strength and low friction, so prongs flex and return and sliders move on webbing without sticking. Its high shrinkage needs a steady mould temperature to keep the two halves fitting.
  • Do Collar Parts Need UV-Stabilised Material?
Yes, for collars and leashes used outdoors. Sunlight embrittles unprotected POM and nylon, and a buckle can then crack under a sudden pull. Specify UV-stabilised grades or masterbatch along with the colour.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Collar Buckle?
Yes. Share the buckle, slider or D-ring drawings or samples, material, part weight, mould size, cavities and monthly quantity. Pratishna Engineers will suggest the machine size and screw diameter.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Pet Care Parts Too?
Yes. It can also mould litter scoops, carrier latches, grooming combs and small cage clips, depending on the mould.
