Injection Moulding Machine for LED Potting Boxes
LED potting boxes, the open cases that hold a driver board before it is filled with resin, are moulded on horizontal injection moulding machines in FR PC, glass-filled PBT or PA66. Machine size depends on box size and cavity count. Low moulded-in stress matters most, since potting compound cure can crack a stressed box.
Machine selection for potting boxes focuses on even walls, a flat base, and fill and vent features that let the compound degas. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for LED potting box production and can recommend a configuration for your box and mould.

Machine Requirements for LED Potting Box Moulding
The box and the potting compound are chosen together, and that choice shapes how the box is moulded. Points to check when selecting a machine:
- Resin that holds properties at driver compartment temperatures
- Low moulded-in stress to resist cracking during compound cure
- Uniform wall thickness and radiused inside corners
- Fill and vent geometry that allows vacuum degassing
- Clean cable exit holes free of flash
- Drying of PC, PBT and PA66 before moulding
Recommended Machine for LED Potting Boxes
Potting boxes are small to medium parts, and most single and multi-cavity moulds fit the E Series (75-180 T). Larger boxes for high-bay or outdoor drivers, or high-cavity hot runner tools, may need the H Series (120-350 T). Shot weight against barrel capacity is worth checking for thick glass-filled boxes.

FAQs / Buyer Questions
What driver and potting box makers ask most often.
Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make LED Potting Boxes?
An E Series horizontal machine covers most box sizes, from small bulb drivers to panel drivers. Bigger boxes for high-bay and street fittings, or tools with many cavities, move to the H Series based on projected area. Why Does a PC Potting Box Crack After Potting?
Cracks usually start where moulded-in stress meets compound shrinkage or cure heat. A rigid epoxy or a mismatch in thermal expansion adds load. Gate position, mould temperature and corner radii lower the stress, and a softer compound adds less.Does the Potting Compound Affect Material Choice?
It does. Epoxy is rigid and shrinks, polyurethane is softer and silicone puts the least stress on the box. Box resin is checked against the compound and against driver compartment heat over the rated life.
Do Potting Boxes Need Special Vent Features?
They do. The fill opening and vent geometry must let air escape during vacuum degassing, because trapped bubbles lower dielectric strength. Mould design sets these features, and they must stay free of flash in production. Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My LED Potting Box?
Yes. Share the box drawing or sample, material grade, potting compound, part weight, mould dimensions, cavity count and monthly volume, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a suitable machine.Does the Machine Suit Other LED Fixture Parts Too?
Yes. The same class of machine can mould CFL holder bodies, downlight housings, diffuser covers and cable glands, subject to the specific mould.
