Injection Moulding Machine for Dispensing Taps and Valves

Dispensing taps and valves for jerrycans and bag-in-box are made on horizontal injection moulding machines as several small parts, from HDPE, PP, POM or LDPE. Part count, cavities per tool and core detail in the valve body set machine size. Sealing faces held round and true, so the tap still seals after weeks of use, matter most.

Tap components need repeatable shot weights, steady cooling for round sealing bores and good venting for POM. Pratishna Engineers offers horizontal injection moulding machines for dispensing tap production and can recommend a machine for the body, valve element and cap.

Machine Requirements for Dispensing Tap Moulding

A dispensing tap fails in the field when it weeps after weeks on the shelf, so the moulding must deliver:

  • Round, true sealing bores and seats on every cavity
  • POM valve elements moulded with venting against burn marks
  • Gates placed away from sealing and sliding faces
  • LDPE seal parts filled evenly for uniform flex
  • Small shot weights repeated across multi-cavity tools
  • Side cores for outlet and inlet channels in the body

Recommended Machine for Dispensing Taps

Tap bodies, valve elements, caps and seals are small parts, and the E Series (75-180 T) runs most of these moulds. Larger tap bodies with several side cores, or high-cavity tools for caps and seals, suit the H Series (120-350 T). Plan each tap component on its own mould and machine size.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

Questions buyers ask before tooling a jerrycan or bag-in-box tap.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Dispensing Taps?
Tap parts are small, so most moulds fit the E Series, sized by cavity count and side cores. The H Series takes larger bodies with several core pulls or high-cavity tools for seals and caps.
  • Why Is POM Used for the Valve Element?
POM has low friction and holds its shape, so the moving valve element opens and reseals without sticking. It needs well-vented moulds and controlled melt temperature, since trapped gas leaves burn marks on sealing surfaces.
  • Why Does a Tap Seal at First and Weep Later?
Seals relax over time under load, and small faults such as an oval bore, a gate mark on a sealing face or flash at the parting line show up as slow leaks. Test taps after storage, not only on first fill.
  • How Is Chemical Compatibility Checked?
Compatibility of each tap material with the contents should be confirmed at the storage temperature, not room temperature. A grade that holds up at ambient can soften or crack with a warm or aggressive fill.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Dispensing Tap?
Yes. Share the tap assembly and part drawings, materials, cavities per mould, core pulls, mould sizes and output target, and Pratishna Engineers will suggest a machine for each component.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Industrial Packaging Parts Too?
Yes. Such machines also produce spouts and vented closures, jerry-can caps, drum bungs and security seals, depending on mould size and cavities.
