Injection Moulding Machine for Furniture Grommets
Furniture grommets are made on horizontal injection moulding machines, usually in multi-cavity moulds, from TPE, TPV or soft PVC, with PP for rigid desk grommet rings. Cavity count and the projected area of the flange decide machine size. Flash control on the soft compound is the main process point, because soft flash tears instead of trimming cleanly.
For desk and panel grommets, machine selection comes down to fine control of injection and holding pressure on soft compounds, plus platen space for multi-cavity tools. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for grommet production and can suggest a set-up once it sees your grommet and mould.

Machine Requirements for Furniture Grommet Moulding
Soft grommets bring flash and demoulding problems that rigid parts rarely show. Points to check when selecting a machine:
- Low, finely controlled injection pressure for soft TPE
- Tight parting line and shut-off faces against soft flash
- Ejection that releases a soft, deforming part without tearing
- Barrel temperature control that avoids degrading soft PVC
- Thin flaps and cable slits filled without short shots
- Platen space for multi-cavity grommet tools
Recommended Machine for Furniture Grommets
Grommets are small and soft, so clamping force stays low even on multi-cavity moulds. The E Series (75-180 T) suits many grommet tools, with smaller moulds sized to the bottom of that range. Larger PP desk grommet rings, or high-cavity tools for wire-pass grommets, can move to the H Series (120-350 T).

FAQs / Buyer Questions
Questions furniture hardware makers raise before ordering a machine for grommets.
Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Furniture Grommets?
An E Series machine covers small soft grommets in multi-cavity tools. Larger PP desk grommet rings, or tools with many cavities, can go to the H Series. Tonnage is confirmed from the projected area and the compound. Can Rubber Grommets Be Made on an Injection Moulding Machine?
Grommets in EPDM or NBR rubber are usually compression or transfer moulded, a different process. TPE, TPV and soft PVC give a rubber-like feel on a standard thermoplastic machine, so confirm the compound before asking for a quote. Why Does Flash Appear on Soft Grommets?
Soft compounds run into very small gaps at the parting line and vents. Worn shut-off faces, high injection pressure or a hot melt make it worse. Soft flash tears rather than breaking off, so preventing it in the mould beats trimming.
Can a Grommet Combine a Rigid Ring With a Soft Seal?
Yes, but a rigid PP ring with a soft TPE seal moulded onto it is a two-shot part, which needs a machine built to the application. Single-material soft or rigid grommets run on the standard E and H Series. Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Grommet?
Yes. Share the grommet drawing or a sample, the compound and its hardness, part weight, cavities planned, mould size and monthly quantity, and Pratishna Engineers will suggest a machine.Does the Machine Suit Other Furniture Hardware Parts Too?
Yes. Similar E and H Series machines can mould fastener caps, pipe end caps, door bumpers and drawer channel components, depending on each mould.
