Injection Moulding Machine for Precision Mechanical Parts

Precision mechanical parts such as cams, levers, sliders, spacers and small housings are produced on horizontal injection moulding machines in POM, PBT, PA46 or PC. Part weight and cavity count set the machine size, which is often small. Process stability matters most for tolerance: dried resin, steady mould temperature and repeatable holding pressure, not tool accuracy alone.

Tight features on these parts depend on how well the machine repeats, so selection weighs injection control and temperature stability before tonnage. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal and hybrid machines for precision moulders and can suggest a configuration for your part family.

Machine Requirements for Precision Mechanical Part Moulding

Cams, sliders and levers carry tight features that move with any change in shrinkage. Machine points to check:

  • Repeatable shot size and holding pressure every cycle
  • Stable mould temperature for predictable POM shrinkage
  • Drying of PA46, PBT and PC before moulding
  • High mould temperatures for PEEK, PPS and LCP
  • Cavity balance so every cavity holds the same size
  • Barrel sized to the small shot to limit residence time

Recommended Machine for Precision Mechanical Parts

Most cams, levers and spacers are light parts, so the Hybrid PH (120-140 T) suits multi-cavity precision moulds where electric injection helps repeat each shot. The E Series (75-180 T) handles the wider run of small housings and sliders, and the H Series (120-350 T) takes larger housings or high-cavity tools.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

Answers for buyers of moulded cams, levers, sliders and housings.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Precision Mechanical Parts?
A small horizontal or hybrid machine with steady injection control. Hybrid PH and E Series machines suit most cam, lever and spacer moulds, while bigger housings or high-cavity tools move to the H Series.
  • How Are Tolerances Agreed for Moulded Mechanical Parts?
Agree a moulding tolerance class on the drawing rather than quoting one plus-minus figure for every dimension. The class has to suit the material shrinkage, the part size and whether the feature crosses the parting line.
  • Why Is POM Common for Cams and Sliders?
POM shrinks more than some resins, but it shrinks very predictably, so the mould can be cut to size and parts repeat. It also slides with low friction and wears slowly against steel and against itself.
  • Do PEEK, PPS or LCP Need a Different Machine Set-Up?
Yes. These grades run at high barrel and mould temperatures, so mould heating and insulation must suit them. LCP fills thin walls easily but gives weak weld lines, and PEEK needs thorough drying and careful purging.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Precision Mechanical Part?
Yes. Share the part drawing or sample, material, tolerance class, part weight, mould dimensions, number of cavities and yearly quantity, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a suitable machine.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Precision Engineering Parts Too?
Yes. The same machines can produce plastic gears, snap-fit clips, bearing cages and knobs or levers, subject to part size and mould.
