Injection Moulding Machine for Bushings

Plain sleeve and flanged bushings are made on horizontal injection moulding machines, often in multi-cavity moulds, from POM, PTFE-filled POM, PA66 or MoS2-filled PA66. Machine size depends on cavity count and shot weight. Bore roundness matters most, and it comes from uniform wall thickness, balanced gating and even cooling around the core pin.

Bush moulds are usually compact, so the choice turns on accurate small shots, drying for nylon grades and steady core cooling over long runs. Pratishna Engineers offers horizontal injection moulding machines for bushing production and will propose a configuration once the bush size and mould are known.

Machine Requirements for Bushing Moulding

A bush has to stay round and keep its bore size after it is pressed into the housing. Machine points to check:

  • Small, accurate shot for multi-cavity bush moulds
  • Even core cooling to keep the bore round
  • Uniform wall thickness through the sleeve and flange
  • Drying of PA66 and oil-filled nylon before moulding
  • Moulded bore sized for press-fit closure in the housing
  • Full barrel purge when switching between filled compounds

Recommended Machine for Bushings

Bushings are small parts, and most multi-cavity bush moulds sit within the E Series (75-180 T). The H Series (120-350 T) suits large flanged bushings, high-cavity hot runner tools or wide moulds that need more tie-bar space. Single-cavity tools for very small bushes are checked against the mould before a machine size is fixed.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

Common buyer questions on moulded sleeve and flanged bushes.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Bushings?
A horizontal machine matched to the mould. Most sleeve and flanged bushes in multi-cavity tools fit the E Series, and the H Series takes larger flanged parts or high-cavity hot runner moulds.
  • Can PTFE or UHMW-PE Bushings Be Injection Moulded?
No. Pure PTFE and UHMW-PE bushes are sintered or ram-extruded and then machined, so that is a machining enquiry. PTFE-filled POM or nylon compounds can be injection moulded where a self-lubricating bush is needed.
  • How Do I Choose a Bushing Compound?
Choose against the pressure-velocity limit of the compound, not strength alone. POM with PTFE suits dry-running bushes, MoS2 or oil-filled PA66 handles heavier loads, and PEEK or PPS are used where heat or chemicals rule out other grades.
  • Why Does the Bore Get Smaller After Press Fitting?
Interference between bush and housing squeezes the sleeve inward, so the bore closes. The moulded inside diameter is sized for the installed condition, and nylon bushes also grow with absorbed moisture, which the fit has to allow for.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Bushing?
Yes. Share the bush drawing or sample, compound, part weight, mould dimensions, number of cavities and yearly quantity, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a suitable machine.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Bearing and Wear Parts Too?
Yes. Machines in this range can also produce plastic bearing cages, roller bodies, gears and snap-fit spacers, depending on part size and mould.
