Injection Moulding Machine for Wearable Components

Wearable components such as smartwatch cases, band clips and sensor windows are made on small precision horizontal injection moulding machines, from PC, glass-filled PA6, TPU or PMMA. Parts are tiny, so cavity count and shot accuracy size the machine. Each part is cosmetic and worn on skin, and the window must mould like a lens.

Selection for wearable parts looks at small, repeatable shots, mould temperature control and how soft and rigid parts are combined. Pratishna Engineers supplies hybrid and horizontal injection moulding machines for wearable component moulding and can recommend a configuration for each part.

Moulding Wearable Components?

Share the case, clip and window drawings with grades and cosmetic needs, and Pratishna Engineers will suggest a machine.

Machine Requirements for Wearable Component Moulding

Wearable parts are small, cosmetic and in contact with skin all day, so the machine and process must handle:

  • Very small shot weight with repeatable metering
  • Validated skin-safe grades for cases, clips and straps
  • Polished cavities and gates kept off the window area
  • Drying of PC, PMMA and PA6 to avoid splay
  • Insert loading when straps are overmoulded onto clips
  • Glass-filled PA6 cases with controlled warpage at buttons

Recommended Machine for Wearable Components

Smartwatch cases and sensor window moulds that need steady, fine shots suit the Hybrid PH Series (120-140 T) with electric injection. Clips and small cases in multi-cavity tools run on the E Series (75-180 T). The H Series (120-350 T) is kept for larger strap moulds or high-cavity tools with bigger mould bases.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

What wearable device part makers ask before buying a machine.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Wearable Components?
Hybrid PH machines lead for cases and windows that need fine shot control. E Series machines suit clips and small multi-cavity tools, and H Series machines suit larger strap moulds.
  • How Is a Sensor Window Moulded Differently From the Case?
It is an optical part. Clear PC or PMMA is dried well, the cavity is polished, the gate sits outside the sensing area and the process is set for low stress and no flow lines.
  • How Are Soft Straps Joined to Rigid Clips?
Straps in TPU or TPE are moulded on their own and assembled, or moulded onto a clip placed in a second mould as an insert. Two-shot versions in one machine can be discussed separately.
  • Which Materials Are Safe for Skin Contact?
Grades sold and validated for skin contact by the supplier, in PC, PA6, TPU or TPE. The moulder should run that exact grade and colourant, as a change can affect skin safety.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Wearable Component?
Yes. Share drawings of each part, material grades, part weights, mould dimensions, cavity counts and monthly volume, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a suitable machine.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Electrical and Electronics Parts Too?
Yes. Similar machines can mould mobile phone housings, micro-moulded parts, electronic connectors and remote control housings, subject to the specific mould.
