Injection Moulding Machine for Remote Control Housings

Remote control housings are made on horizontal injection moulding machines, as top and bottom shells and a battery door, mainly from ABS or PC/ABS. Two-shot machines are used where TPE keys are moulded onto the shell. Machine size follows shell area, cavity count and any second material. Battery door latch fit is the main process point.

Selection depends on whether the keys are two-shot TPE, a separate keypad or single-material buttons. Pratishna Engineers builds special purpose machines to application for two-material remotes, supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for single-material shells and can recommend a configuration.

Machine Requirements for Remote Control Housing Moulding

Remote control housings are small cosmetic shells with snap fits, a battery door and key openings. Buyers look at:

  • Clean key openings without flash that can jam buttons
  • Battery door hinge and latch held to a close fit
  • Gloss or soft texture matched across top and bottom shells
  • Snap-fit hooks with enough draft for clean ejection
  • Two-shot TPE keys bonded to the shell where specified
  • Multi-cavity moulds for doors and small button parts

Recommended Machine for Remote Control Housings

Two-shot housings with TPE keys moulded onto the shell need Special Purpose Injection Moulding Machines, which Pratishna Engineers builds to application. Single-material shells, battery doors and rigid buttons run on the E Series (75-180 T), and larger multi-cavity shell moulds on the C Series (140-320 T). Silicone keypads are compression moulded and quoted separately.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

What remote control makers ask most when choosing a machine.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Remote Control Housings?
Single-material shells and battery doors run on the E Series, with the C Series for larger multi-cavity moulds. Housings with TPE keys added in a second shot need a special purpose two-shot machine.
  • Are Silicone Keypads Injection Moulded?
Many remotes use silicone rubber keypads that are compression moulded, not injection moulded. These are sourced or quoted separately, and the plastic shell has openings that locate the keypad.
  • Why Do Battery Doors Fail?
The hinge or latch is often the first part to break in use. Thin latch sections, sharp corners, a weld line at the latch and poor packing all cut how many openings the door survives.
  • How Is TPE Bonded to the Housing in a Two-Shot Mould?
The TPE grade is matched to the ABS or PC/ABS substrate, and the substrate is still warm when the second shot arrives. Clean cavity surfaces matter, since mould release spray can weaken the bond.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Remote Control Housing?
Yes. Share the shell and battery door drawings, key design, materials, cavities, mould dimensions and monthly volume, and Pratishna Engineers will suggest a standard or special purpose machine.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Electronics Housings Too?
Yes. Single-material machines can also mould charger housings, set-top box bezels, router housings and wearable components, depending on the mould.
