Injection Moulding Machine for Cable Ties

Cable ties are made on horizontal injection moulding machines, in high-cavity moulds, mainly from PA66, with heat-stabilised, UV-stabilised, PA12 and PP grades for special uses. Cavity count and tie length set the clamp and shot. Fill is the limit, because the strap is a long thin flow path from a small gate.

For cable ties, machine choice centres on fast, repeatable injection into many long cavities and a barrel matched to a light shot. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for cable tie production and can recommend a configuration for your tie sizes and grades.

Machine Requirements for Cable Tie Moulding

Cable ties are sold on loop tensile strength, so every shot has to fill and pack the strap the same way. Points to set:

  • Fast injection to fill long, thin straps before they freeze
  • Balanced runners so every cavity fills at the same time
  • Dried PA66, since moisture weakens the pawl and strap
  • Separate handling for black UV-stabilised and heat-stabilised grades
  • Barrel sized to the shot so nylon is not held too long
  • Fine venting at strap ends to avoid burn marks

Recommended Machine for Cable Ties

Short and medium ties in high-cavity moulds generally suit the E Series (75-180 T), where fill speed matters more than clamp size. Long, wide heavy-duty ties, or very high cavity tools with a large projected area, move to the H Series (120-350 T), which also gives room for longer moulds.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

Questions cable tie makers ask about grades, testing and machines.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Cable Ties?
For standard ties, the E Series covers most multi-cavity tools. Longer heavy-duty ties and the largest cavity counts go to the H Series, chosen by tie length, mould size and shot weight.
  • Which Grades Are Used for Cable Ties and Why?
Natural PA66 suits indoor wiring. Heat-stabilised PA66 is used near engines or hot panels, UV-stabilised black PA66 outdoors, PA12 where low moisture uptake matters, and PP for low-cost or chemical-resistant ties.
  • Does Regrind Affect Cable Tie Strength?
It can. Loop tensile strength is the figure the tie is sold on, so adding regrind, changing grade or changing supplier means the ties are tested again before release.
  • Why Do Fresh Cable Ties Snap at the Pawl?
Nylon ties are dry and brittle straight out of the mould. They are moisture-conditioned before packing so the pawl and strap regain toughness and do not crack when first pulled tight.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Cable Tie?
Yes. Share tie sizes, grade, part weight, mould size, cavity count and monthly volume, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a suitable machine.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Cable Management Parts Too?
Yes, subject to the mould. Similar machines run cable clips, cable accessories such as glands and trunking clips, and electronic connectors.
