Injection Moulding Machine for Toe Clips and Pedal Strap Clips

Toe clips and pedal strap clips are made on horizontal injection moulding machines, usually from tough nylon, with PP for low-cost clips. The curved clip length, cavity count and mounting screw holes set machine size. Drying the nylon and gating so weld lines miss the bend are the main process points, since the clip flexes with every pedal stroke.

Clip moulding calls for consistent fill of a thin curved section, controlled moisture in the nylon and clean ejection off a curved core. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for toe clips and strap clips and can recommend one to match your tool.

Machine Requirements for Toe Clip and Pedal Strap Clip Moulding

A toe clip is a thin, curved strap that bends under the rider’s foot, so toughness and fill along the curve guide the set-up:

  • Dryer for nylon to avoid brittle, cracked clips
  • Fill along a thin curved section without short shots
  • Gate position keeping weld lines off the bend
  • Mould cores for mounting holes and strap slots
  • Ejection off the curved core without stress whitening
  • Multi-cavity support for small strap clips

Recommended Machine for Toe Clips and Pedal Strap Clips

Toe clips and strap clips are light parts, so the E Series (75-180 T) covers many single and multi-cavity moulds. Longer toe clips in multi-cavity tools, or moulds that run clips alongside strap buckles in the same material, can need the H Series (120-350 T) for platen space and opening stroke.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

Short answers for toe clip and strap clip makers.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Toe Clips?
An E Series horizontal machine handles many toe clip and strap clip moulds, since the parts are light. Long clips in high cavity tools may need the H Series for mould space rather than extra clamping force.
  • Is Nylon or PP Better for Toe Clips?
Nylon is tougher and keeps its shape under repeated flexing, so it suits clips in daily use. PP costs less and suits light-duty strap clips, but it softens in heat and can creep out of shape.
  • How Are Mounting Holes and Strap Slots Formed?
Fixed core pins in the mould form the screw holes and strap slots during moulding. Weld lines form behind each pin, so holes are kept away from the highest bending zone where the design allows.
  • Do Toe Clips Need Texture or Colour?
Clips are often moulded in black with carbon masterbatch for UV resistance. A light texture on the outer face hides flow marks and scuffs, and even masterbatch dosing avoids streaks along the clip.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Toe Clip or Strap Clip?
Yes. Share the clip drawing or sample, material, part weight, mould size, cavities and monthly quantity, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a suitable machine.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Pedal and Bicycle Parts Too?
Yes. Similar machines can mould bicycle pedals, water bottle cages, cable end caps and cycle reflectors, depending on the mould and material.
