Injection Moulding Machine for Fruit and Mesh Feeders

Fruit and mesh feeders are moulded on horizontal injection moulding machines, with the PP handle, snap ring and cap made in multi-cavity or family moulds. Machine size is set by cavity count, total projected area and shot weight. Most process trouble sits at the snap bead on the ring, which is stripped off the core and must not tear.

For feeders, machine selection centres on steady shot control for small food-contact parts and clean colour changes between batches. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for fruit feeder parts and can recommend a configuration for your handle, ring and mould.

Machine Requirements for Fruit Feeder Moulding

A fruit feeder is a set of small food-contact parts that must snap and seal together. The machine needs to handle:

  • Food-contact PP grades with clean hopper and barrel handling
  • Snap ring undercut stripped without stress whitening
  • Family moulds for handle, ring and cap in one shot
  • Small shot weight with repeatable dosing per cycle
  • Quick purge for frequent pastel colour changes
  • Gate placed away from the handle grip face

Recommended Machine for Fruit Feeders

Feeder handles and rings are small, so the E Series (75-180 T) covers most single-part and family moulds. Where a mould runs many cavities on a hot runner, or a larger feeder with a heavier handle is planned, the H Series (120-350 T) adds clamping force and shot capacity. Silicone pouches are made separately as LSR parts.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

Questions buyers raise most when setting up fruit and mesh feeder production.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Fruit Feeders?
A horizontal machine in the E Series range suits most feeder moulds, since handles, rings and caps are light parts. H Series machines are used when cavity count or a hot runner raises the clamping force needed.
  • Is the Silicone or Mesh Pouch Moulded on the Same Machine?
No. Silicone pouches are LSR parts made on a different process, and fabric mesh pouches are not moulded at all. These machines make the rigid PP handle, ring and cap that hold the pouch.
  • What Grade of PP Is Used for Feeder Parts?
Food-contact PP homopolymer or random copolymer is common. Random copolymer gives a clearer look and more snap toughness on the ring. The material supplier should confirm food-contact suitability for the grade and masterbatch.
  • Why Does the Snap Ring Crack or Turn White at the Bead?
Usually the undercut is too deep for the grade, the part is ejected while still soft, or mould temperature is uneven across the core. Longer cooling or a revised stripper ring often clears it.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Fruit Feeder?
Yes. Share the feeder drawings or samples, material, part weights, mould size, cavities per part and target monthly output, and Pratishna Engineers will suggest a suitable machine.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Baby Care Parts Too?
Yes. A machine of this class can also run feeding bottle caps, baby spoons and forks, snack cup lids and pacifier shields, depending on each mould.
