Injection Moulding Machine for Fenders

Car fenders are large exterior body panels made on two-platen injection moulding machines with very high clamping force, from talc-filled PP, TPO or PA/PPO blends. Panel projected area, mould height and a long flow path through a thin wall set the machine size. Sequential valve gating is often used to keep weld lines off the painted face.

Machine selection for a fender starts with platen size, tie-bar spacing and the clamping force the panel needs. Pratishna Engineers supplies two-platen injection moulding machines and will review your fender part and mould before advising on any machine.

Machine Requirements for Fender Moulding

A fender is a large, thin exterior panel with a show face that is painted or left in moulded colour, so the press has to handle:

  • Very high clamping force across a large projected area
  • Wide platens and tie-bar spacing for a long, deep mould
  • Sequential valve gate control to place weld lines away from view
  • Even mould temperature to hold panel shape and limit warpage
  • Steady melt delivery for talc-filled PP, TPO or PA/PPO
  • Show surface free of flow lines and sink at mounting bosses

Recommended Machine for Fenders

A full car fender usually needs more clamping force and platen area than the machines listed here, so each fender enquiry is reviewed on its own part and mould. Pratishna Engineers offers the Two-Platen PHM Series (160-350 T), the H Series (120-350 T) and special purpose machines built to application. Share your fender details and the team will advise what can be discussed.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

Questions fender makers and tool rooms raise before they choose a press.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Fenders?
Large two-platen presses are the usual choice, because a full car fender needs wide platens and high tonnage. A two-platen clamp also keeps machine length shorter for a big mould. Each fender is sized from its own projected area and tool.
  • What Material Is Used for Car Fenders?
Talc-filled PP and TPO are common for fenders that are painted offline or left in moulded colour. PA/PPO blends are chosen where the fender goes through the body paint line with the metal panels and must take the oven heat.
  • Why Is Sequential Valve Gating Used on Fender Moulds?
A fender is too long to fill well from one gate. Valve gates open one after another along the flow path, so the melt front stays continuous and weld lines or hesitation marks stay off the visible face.
  • How Is Warpage Controlled on a Large Fender?
Even wall thickness, balanced cooling in both mould halves, controlled holding pressure and good support of the panel during ejection help a fender keep its shape. Talc filler also cuts shrinkage compared with unfilled PP.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Fender?
Share the fender drawing or CAD file, material, part weight, mould dimensions and gating plan, and Pratishna Engineers will review the details and advise what can be offered.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Automotive Exterior Parts Too?
Related pages cover two-wheeler mudguards, motorcycle side panels, decorative bezels and instrument panels. Each of these is sized on its own part and mould, and smaller exterior parts sit closer to the machine range listed here.
