Injection Moulding Machine for Micro-Moulded Parts
Micro-moulded parts are made on injection moulding machines with very small, accurately metered shots, often in hot runner or short runner moulds, from LCP, POM, PA or PC. The deciding factors are shot weight against screw size, runner weight compared with the part and fine control of injection stroke. Accurate metering matters more than clamp force.
For these parts, selection centres on the smallest practical screw, a short runner and close control of shot size. Pratishna Engineers supplies vertical and small horizontal injection moulding machines for small precision parts and can recommend a configuration, or say when a part needs a dedicated micro machine.

Machine Requirements for Micro-Moulded Part Production
Micro parts weigh far less than a normal shot, so the machine and mould are judged on these points:
- Smallest screw diameter available for the shot weight
- Short residence time to stop LCP and POM degradation
- Hot runner or very short runner to cut runner weight
- Fine control of injection stroke and holding pressure
- Steady mould temperature for tiny features and thin walls
- Clean moulding area where medical or optical buyers require it
Recommended Machine for Micro-Moulded Parts
Small precision parts, especially those moulded around pins or contacts, suit the Vertical PV Series (40-55 T) or Vertical PVDL Series (40-80 T), with inserts loaded by hand or robot. The E Series (75-180 T) suits multi-cavity moulds of small parts. Parts whose runner would outweigh the part many times are reviewed case by case first.

FAQs / Buyer Questions
Points that come up when buyers ask about very small parts.
Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Micro-Moulded Parts?
Parts with the very smallest shots run on dedicated micro machines with plunger or scaled-down screw units. Small precision parts with heavier shots can run on small vertical machines or the E Series, depending on runner and cavities. Why Does Runner Weight Matter So Much for Micro Parts?
On a conventional machine the runner can weigh many times more than the part. Melt then sits in the barrel longer and can degrade, so a hot runner or very short runner keeps the shot close to part weight. Can Micro Parts Be Moulded Around Metal Pins or Contacts?
Yes. Small pins and contacts are often placed in the mould and overmoulded on vertical machines, where gravity holds the insert in place. Insert support decides whether thin walls fill without shifting it.
How Are Tiny Features Filled Without Short Shots?
Mould temperature, venting and injection speed matter more than pressure. Fine vents at the end of fill let trapped air escape, and a warmer mould keeps melt moving into thin sections before it freezes. Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Micro-Moulded Part?
Yes. Share the part drawing, material, part and runner weight, cavities, any inserts and monthly volume. Pratishna Engineers will say whether a listed machine suits the part or a dedicated micro machine is needed.Does the Machine Suit Other Electronic Parts Too?
Yes. Small vertical and horizontal machines can also mould electronic connectors, wearable components, fan regulator knobs and coil bobbins, subject to the mould and shot size.
