Injection Moulding Machine for BMC Insulating Parts
BMC insulating parts are made on horizontal thermoset injection moulding machines with a stuffer or ram feed, from bulk moulding compound of polyester resin, glass fibre and mineral filler. Part size, cavities and cure time set the machine. The thermal setup is reversed: a cool barrel holds the compound soft while a heated mould cures it.
For BMC, selection starts with the feed system, the wear protection of screw and barrel, and mould heating capacity. Pratishna Engineers builds special purpose injection moulding machines to application for BMC insulating parts and can recommend a configuration for your part and compound.

Machine Requirements for BMC Insulating Part Moulding
BMC is a dough-like thermoset compound, so a standard thermoplastic press cannot feed or process it. The machine needs:
- Stuffer or ram feed to push the dough into the screw
- Bimetallic barrel and wear-resistant screw for abrasive filler
- Cool, controlled barrel so the compound does not cure early
- Heated mould with even temperature across all cavities
- Venting and flash control at every parting line
- Stable process for high first-pass yield, since scrap cannot be reused
Recommended Machine for BMC Insulating Parts
BMC insulators, terminal bases and switchgear parts are run on a thermoset machine with stuffer feed, not on a standard series. Pratishna Engineers builds Special Purpose Injection Moulding Machines to application, sized to your part, cavities and cure time, with the barrel, feed and mould heating chosen for BMC.

FAQs / Buyer Questions
What buyers moving into BMC moulding ask first.
Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make BMC Insulating Parts?
A thermoset injection moulding machine with a stuffer feed, a cooled barrel and a heated mould. Tonnage is chosen from part size and cavity count. Pratishna Engineers builds these as special purpose machines to application. Can a Standard Thermoplastic Machine Run BMC?
No. Dough-like compound will not feed from a normal hopper, and the barrel heating is set the opposite way. A thermoplastic barrel would also wear fast against the glass and mineral filler. Can BMC Scrap or Runners Be Reused?
No. Cured BMC cannot be melted again, so runners and rejects are waste. Short runners, a well-vented mould and a steady process keep first-pass yield high and scrap low.
Why Does BMC Wear the Screw and Barrel?
Glass fibre and mineral filler make the compound abrasive. Bimetallic barrels, wear-resistant screws and check rings rated for filled thermoset hold their fit for longer runs. Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My BMC Insulating Part?
Yes. Share the part drawing or sample, BMC grade, part weight, mould size, cavity count, cure time if known and yearly volume, and Pratishna Engineers will advise on a machine.Does the Machine Suit Other Thermoset Electrical Parts Too?
Yes, subject to the compound and mould. Such a machine can also run DMC components, cooker handles and some MCB or RCCB housings in thermoset grades.
